According to many reputable studies, medical mistakes account for over 100,000 deaths per year in the United States. One study puts the number as high as 250,000 deaths due to medical errors. If true, that would make medical errors the third-leading cause of death in the United States. No healthcare system is perfect. No healthcare provider is perfect. Some of them are overworked and underpaid. Others try to cover up their mistakes, leading to more harm.
Regardless, medical negligence and errors happen. When they cause harm to you or your family member, we there to help put the pieces back together. Similarly, just about everyone of us has had a family member in a nursing home. Our seniors deserve the same amount of protection and care that we all are. Sometimes, however, a lack of training, lack of resources, lack of a proper safety program, or others cause nursing home residents to get dropped, mishandled, mistreated, or incorrectly diagnosed. When that happens, it is our job to hold those at fault accountable
