William R. “Billy” Phillippi

William R. Phillippi III, or ‘Billy’ as he is known to his friends, grew up in Wilcox County Alabama, just outside the town of Camden. Billy graduated from Auburn University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in History. Billy decided to enter the practice of law, following in his mother and grandfather’s footsteps. He graduated from the Thomas G. Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in 2016, and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar the same year. Now practicing in the firm founded by his grandfather, Wyman Gilmore, Sr., Billy and the members of Gilmore Law Firm strive to carry on Wyman Sr.’s legacy of protecting the people of Southwest Alabama, by giving them a voice.

While at Jones, Billy was a chairman of the Board of Advocates, where he participated in mock trial competitions against other law students from all over the Southeast, and was a Director in the Deans Fellow program there. He has also been published for his unique and insightful views on ways to handle homeowner, or first-party insurance, disputes with “Products Liability for Financial Products: Judicial Insurance for the Insured.” His time at school was also spent clerking with the Toxic Torts Section of Beasley-Allen, and with the Montgomery office of Morris, Carey, Andrews, Tallmadge, & Driggers.

Billy is licensed to practice in the State of Alabama and the Middle and Southern Federal District Courts of Alabama. He is a member of the Young Lawyers Section of the Alabama State Bar.

Billy is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys spending his time off hunting or fishing. Billy is recently married to the former Mallory J. Branch of Opelika, Alabama.
