Back to Article List   Land Dealer jailed for losing $500,000 7/8/1996 MOBILE- Grove Hill land dealer Willie Elisha Sheffield can't get a federal bankruptcy judge or a federal circuit court judge to believe is wild story about losing $500,000 he owes to a 93-year-old woman. Sheffield, 60, had been sent to jail for 18 months, or until he decided to tell where the money is. But Sheffield and his family are sticking to his story. "My understanding is my day is innocent until proven guilty," said Sheffields's daughter, Susan Henson, 28. "They haven't proven anything."
