Wyman O. Gilmore, Jr., lived in Choctaw County, Alabama, as a child and moved to Clarke County at the age of 12 when his father opened his law practice in Grove Hill. He graduated from Grove Hill Academy in 1976 and then attended college at the University of Alabama and graduated with a B.A. degree in Communications in 1980. He attended law school at Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, where he graduated and was admitted to the bar in 1983.

Gil returned home to Grove Hill and began practicing with his father and sister. His early practice consisted of a variety of cases, ranging from divorces and workers' compensation cases to accidents, probate, criminal and land cases. Through the years, his practice evolved into primarily representing individuals and consumers in personal injury and fraud cases. He has taken on such adversaries as Life of Georgia, New York Life, Liberty National, Woodmen of the World, Alabama Power Company, Scotch Lumber Company, and United Insurance Company.

In 1999 Mr. Gilmore was admitted to the Tennessee State Bar and began focusing much of his practice on discrimination cases against various automobile finance companies. From 2002 to 2005 Mr. Gilmore and his family relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where he and associate counsel worked toward concluding these automobile finance discrimination cases. Mr. Gilmore has now returned to his home in Grove Hill where he plans to practice for the remainder of his career.

Mr. Gilmore has practiced in the state courts of Alabama and Tennessee, and has tried cases in the States of Mississippi and Florida. He has practiced in the U. S. District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Alabama, the Middle District of Tennessee, the District Courts for New Jersey, New York and California, the U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the 6th and 11th Circuits, and the U. S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the Clarke County Bar Association, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association and has served on that organization's executive committee for several years.

In July 2004, the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice honored Mr. Gilmore and his associate counsel as finalists for the organization's annual Lawyer of the Year Award, which is awarded to a lawyer or group of lawyers who has done the most to benefit the public during the preceding year. In 2007, Mr. Gilmore was elected into the membership of the Fellows of the Alabama Law Foundation. Election to the Fellows is recognition of an attorney’s accomplishments by his or her colleagues and is limited to 1% of bar membership.

Mr. Gilmore is a hunter and a private pilot. He is married to the former Cindy Williams, and they have four children, Wil, Sarah, Leigh and Vivian.
