Our firm was founded in 1967 by the late Wyman O. Gilmore, Sr. Today, his children head a law firm that continues Mr. Gilmore’s legacy of serving the working people of Alabama.
The Gilmore Law Firm is centrally located in
southwestern Alabama, headquartered in the
Clarke County city of Grove Hill. We maintain a
private airplane so that we can get to clients
quickly. For the convenience of our seriously
injured clients, we gladly make hospital and
home visits. We also have an attorney in

Do I Need a Lawyer???
If you have been seriously hurt in an car or truck wreck or while working on your job, you might be wondering if you really need the services of a lawyer. You probably need our legal help if you are experiencing any of these problems:
• You are having difficulty collecting money from an insurance company.
Insurance procedures often make it very difficult to collect what you should rightfully receive. You are overwhelmed with details. We will deal with the insurance company, your creditors, the hospital and your employer. This will help you concentrate on your health and family.
• Your situation has any unusual twists.
Personal injury cases can be complicated. It is important to understand the law as it applies to your personal injury case. Our experience can help you get the best recovery possible.
• You don’t have any money to pay a lawyer.
We will cover all the expenses for your personal injury case. IF we win money for you, we collect a fee and are repaid for the expenses. The initial consultation for a personal injury case is free (a fee applies for all other cases).
Sponsor
for the Regional Child Advocacy Center, Inc.
Gilmore Law Firm is the proud sponsor for the Regional
Child Advocacy Center, Inc., which operates two
child-focused programs serving the victims of child
abuse and neglect in Clarke, Washington and Choctaw
Counties.
The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) provides a
child-friendly system of interviewing victims of child
abuse. Victims are brought to the CAC to be interviewed
in a non-threatening environment by an expert. A team
consisting of law enforcement officers, DHR employees,
mental health workers, medical personnel and the
District Attorney view the interview from another room
via closed circuit TV, resulting in less trauma for the
victims. This team also makes plans for the child as a
group and follows each child’s case. Counseling is also
provided to the child and the non-offending parent. The
CAC provides community education on the subject of child
abuse and neglect and provides prevention projects.
Almost Home, located in Clarke County,
offers a secure home-like environment where a child may
reside while more permanent plans are made. The foster
parent(s) work with the children’s social workers to
provide the needs for up to six children ranging in age
from birth to 18 years. Almost Home is licensed as a
foster home by the Clarke County DHR but will accept
referrals through any Alabama DHR.
About Our Founder, Wyman O. Gilmore, Sr.
|
Gilmore Law Office was founded in 1967 by Wyman O. Gilmore, Sr. Mr. Gilmore, Sr. served as Circuit Solicitor, or District Attorney, for ten years, and then he opened his local general practice in Grove Hill.
As an attorney, Mr. Gilmore, Sr. often was criticized for representing and defending those who were not popular in society just because of their skin color. Mr. Gilmore, Sr. became the first lawyer in Alabama to prosecute a white man for assaulting a black man. He continually defended the rights of those who needed defending because he knew it was the right thing to do. Mr. Gilmore was also not race-exclusive in his social circles. While practicing law, he befriended black lawyers who were not only invited to his office but were also invited to his home. Mr. Gilmore, Sr. was by far one of the most respected attorneys of his day. Because of his firm work ethic and non-prejudiced ideas about the law, he was named a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and in 1986, he was named as one of the top ten criminal defense lawyers in America by the American Bar Association. These two awards capped an outstanding career by Mr. Gilmore, putting him in high standings with his peers in the legal profession. |
